Getting a new water connection from NWSC is straightforward, but the cost depends on your location.

Steps

  1. Apply online at nwsc.co.ug or at the nearest NWSC branch with your National ID and LC1 letter/land documents.
  2. Survey: an NWSC surveyor visits to measure the distance from the main pipe.
  3. Quotation: the cost is set after the survey, based on distance and pipe size (½", ¾" or 1").
  4. Pay using the payment advice slip (bank or mobile money).
  5. Installation of the pipe and meter.

Prepaid water

In some low-income areas of Kampala (e.g. Kawempe, Bwaise, Kisenyi), NWSC runs prepaid public water points where you buy water with tokens from authorised vendors at a fixed low price per jerrycan. Report any vendor who overcharges to NWSC.
