Many Ugandan schools and universities collect fees through SchoolPay. Each student has a SchoolPay payment code from the school. With that code you can pay from your phone, at a bank or through the app.

Pay with MTN Mobile Money

  1. Dial *165#
  2. Select Payments → School Fees → SchoolPay
  3. Choose Pay School Fees
  4. Enter the student's SchoolPay code
  5. Check that the school and student name shown are correct
  6. Enter the amount and your PIN

Pay with Airtel Money

  1. Dial *185#
  2. Select Pay School Fees → SchoolPay
  3. Enter the SchoolPay code, confirm the name and enter the amount
  4. Enter your PIN

Note: menu numbers change from time to time. Follow the words on your screen: School fees → SchoolPay.

Other ways to pay

  • Bank or bank agent. Give the teller or agent the student's SchoolPay code. You don't need a bank slip or an account, and you get a printed receipt.
  • SchoolPay app. Download "SchoolPay Uganda" on Google Play or the App Store and tap Pay fees.
  • Saving for fees. Airtel Money, SchoolPay and Sanlam run a school-fees savings wallet. Paying fees from it has no withdrawal charge.

How much does SchoolPay charge?

A small transaction fee applies and depends on the amount and network. The exact charge is shown on your screen before you enter your PIN. Paying through SchoolPay avoids the mobile money withdrawal fee and the 0.5% withdrawal tax you'd pay if you cashed out to pay in person.

How to get a receipt

  • You receive an SMS confirmation after paying.
  • Use Get Receipt in the SchoolPay menu or app.
  • Bank and agent payments come with a printed receipt. Keep it until the school confirms the payment.
